Software development company in Goa

Cloudworks is a software development company in Goa that builds custom and internal business software: billing, inventory, admin panels and reporting, shaped to how your business already works. We write the scope down first and ship in stages, so you see working software early.

What we build

We build the software that runs the back office of a business: billing, inventory, admin panels and reporting. It is the system where the numbers, the stock and the cash live, built to match how your business already works instead of making you work the way a product expects.

Typical jobs are:

  • Billing. Bills, taxes and receipts at the counter or across outlets.
  • Inventory. Stock that updates itself as things are sold or received.
  • Admin panels. One place for your team to manage orders, products and customers.
  • Reporting. Sales, stock and cash figures you can read without building a spreadsheet by hand.

This page is about the system behind the business. If the main need is a screen that customers or staff use on a phone, see our app development page. If it is answering messages and booking, see WhatsApp bots and AI automation. Most real projects have a bit of each, and we say which part is which when we quote.

Custom or ready-made software?

Ready-made software is sometimes the right answer. If your process is ordinary and an existing product already fits, buy it, because it is cheaper and quicker to start.

Custom software starts to win in three situations:

  • Your way of working is different. A central kitchen feeding several outlets does not behave like a single cafe, and generic software makes you work around it.
  • You need things in one place. Billing, stock and cash in separate tools means typing the same sale more than once.
  • You want to change it. Custom software can be extended when the business changes, instead of waiting for a vendor.

If a ready-made product is the better choice for you, we will say so.

Which POS system is best for a restaurant?

The best POS is the one that fits how your restaurant bills, so check any system against this list before you pay:

  1. Does it keep billing when the internet drops? A restaurant cannot stop at the counter because the connection did.
  2. Does it handle GST and service charges correctly on the bill?
  3. Does it print receipts on the printer your counter uses? Check the printer type and the receipt size before you buy.
  4. Does it handle more than one outlet, with an owner view and separate logins for each outlet?
  5. Does it deduct stock as dishes sell, so the numbers are right without a count every night?
  6. Does it keep a cash ledger, so closing the day is not a guessing game?
  7. Is a bill fast during the rush, with shortcuts for the items you sell most?

QuickBill is our own build, made for a restaurant client running a central kitchen and outlets. It covers points 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6, and has one-tap shortcut bills for point 7. On point 3, it prints 80 mm receipts to a Bluetooth thermal printer from its Android app and nothing else, so check that this matches your counter. The details are in the proof section below. Treat it as one option to compare, not the only one.

How a software project runs

A software project is different from a website project. It starts with a longer brief and a written scope, and it ships in stages you can test along the way. You see working software early, not a plan to trust.

  1. Brief. A short call about your business, then a longer conversation about the work the software has to do. We write the scope down before we start.
  2. Interactive design. A working preview of the screens, so you click through it instead of imagining a mockup.
  3. Build. We build it in code, stage by stage, and you test each stage in a live preview.
  4. Launch. We put it live, hand over full ownership and stay available for changes.

How long it takes

Most websites go live in about two weeks. Software takes longer, and we agree the timeline with you upfront, not after. Because it ships in stages, the first stage arrives well before the last. The biggest influences on time are the number of kinds of user, the number of outlets, how much has to be moved in from existing records, and whether it has to work offline.

What it costs

We do not publish a price for custom software. After a short call, and once the scope is written down, we give a fixed quote.

What moves the cost most:

  • Users and roles. An owner, a manager and counter staff each see different things.
  • Outlets or locations. More places means more rules about who sees and does what.
  • Reports. A few key numbers is a small job; a full set of reports is a larger one.
  • Printers, payments and tax. Hardware and money handling add careful work.
  • Offline use. Software that keeps working without internet is a bigger build.
  • Existing records. Bringing in what you already have, from spreadsheets or an older system, takes time.

Proof: software we have built

  • QuickBill is an offline-first restaurant billing (POS) system built for a restaurant client running a central kitchen and outlets. We keep that client’s name private. The owner has a web dashboard and each outlet has its own login. Staff can make a bill with one tap on a shortcut. It works offline and backs up to the cloud, and an Android app prints 80 mm receipts to a Bluetooth thermal printer. It handles GST and service charges, keeps a cash ledger, and deducts stock automatically for each dish sold.
  • GreenSure Daily is a daily vegetable delivery store for a Goa business, and its custom admin panel for orders and stock is software of the kind described on this page. We designed the store, built it and still run it, and it is live in production with real customers.

Who this is for in Goa

We build for restaurants, cafes, hotels, real estate, retail, startups and brands. Software pays off most where a business repeats the same work all day: billing, stock, orders, reports. A restaurant that also wants customers to book or order directly will usually want a website too, which is covered on our web development page and in do you still need a website if you are on Zomato and Swiggy. We serve Margao, Panaji, Mapusa, Vasco and the rest of Goa, and we work with clients online, so you can start with a call wherever you are.

Cloudworks is a studio of seven plus interns, founded in 2024 and based in Goa. We take on a handful of projects at a time, so each one gets full attention, and we reply to every enquiry within a day.

Questions people ask

What is custom software development?

Custom software development means building software around how your business already works, instead of buying a ready-made product and bending your business to fit it. For a restaurant that could be billing, stock and a cash ledger in one system. For a shop it could be an admin panel and reports. It does what you need and can change as your business does.

How much does custom software development cost?

We do not publish a price, because software ranges from a small admin panel to multi-outlet billing. The cost turns on how many workflows it covers, what it must connect to, how much data we move in from your existing records, and how many outlets, roles and reports it needs. We agree the scope in writing, then give a fixed quote after a short call.

How long does it take to build custom software?

It depends on the scope, so we agree the timeline upfront and the scope in writing before work starts. Time grows with the number of workflows, the integrations and the amount of existing data to bring in. Software starts with a longer brief than a website and ships in stages you can test, so you see working software early. A website takes about two weeks; software takes longer.

Which POS system is best for a restaurant?

The best POS is the one that fits how your restaurant bills. Check that it works when the internet drops, handles GST and service charges, prints on your printer, supports several outlets, and deducts stock as dishes sell. QuickBill, which we built for a restaurant client, covers these but prints only to 80 mm Bluetooth thermal printers, and we will say so if a ready-made POS suits you better.

Why choose custom software over ready-made software?

Choose custom when your process is different enough that ready-made software makes you work around it, when you need billing, stock and cash in one place, or when you want software that changes as you do. Ready-made is the better choice when it already fits and you do not need changes. We will tell you honestly which one you need.
